How we collect, use, and protect your information, including our text-message program.

Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how the Oakland County Republican Party (“OCRP,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit oaklandgop.org, fill out one of our forms, or sign up to receive text messages or email from us. OCRP is the county committee of the Republican Party in Oakland County, Michigan, headquartered at 42611 Woodward Ave, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you sign up for our newsletter, volunteer, request a yard sign notification, RSVP for an event, or contact us, we collect what you enter, which may include your name, email address, mobile phone number, zip code, the ways you would like to help, and whether you agreed to receive text messages. When you agree to receive text messages, we also record the date and time, the page you signed up on, and the exact consent wording you agreed to.
Information collected automatically. Our website keeps privacy-friendly visit statistics (see Cookies & analytics). Our hosting and security providers may process technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site, protect it from abuse, and filter spam.
How we use information
- To respond to you and follow up on the request you made, such as a volunteer shift or a yard sign.
- To send the newsletters, emails, and (only if you opted in) text messages you signed up for about events, volunteer opportunities, elections, and support for the party and its candidates.
- To organize volunteers and voter outreach in support of Republican candidates.
- To understand how the website is used and improve it, and to keep the site and our forms secure.
- To meet our legal and campaign-finance obligations.
Text messages (SMS)
If you check the text-message box on one of our forms, you agree to receive recurring text messages from the Oakland County Republican Party at the mobile number you provided. Messages may include volunteer opportunities, event reminders, election updates, yard sign updates, and fundraising requests, and may be sent using automated technology. Agreeing to receive texts is never required to volunteer, attend an event, receive a yard sign, or make a donation.

- To opt out, reply STOP to any message. You will receive one final message confirming you have been unsubscribed, and you will receive no further texts unless you opt in again. You can also email ExecutiveDirector@OaklandGOP.org or call (248) 499-7288 to opt out.

- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We do not sell, rent, or trade mobile phone numbers.

Every newsletter and email from OCRP includes an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to remove you by emailing ExecutiveDirector@OaklandGOP.org.
Cookies & analytics
We measure how our website is used (for example, which pages are visited and which buttons are clicked) so we can improve it. Our analytics do not record your IP address, email address, phone number, or anything you type into a form, and visitors are counted with an anonymous identifier that changes daily. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we do not track your visit. Our public pages do not use advertising cookies. Embedded YouTube videos use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode.
Donations
Donations and memberships are processed by our payment provider, Anedot, on its own secure pages. OCRP does not receive or store your full card number. Michigan campaign-finance law requires us to collect and, in some cases, publicly report contributors’ names, addresses, and certain employment information.
Security & retention
Signups are stored in a protected database that only a small number of authorized OCRP administrators can access, and access is logged. We keep information for as long as it is useful for party activities or as required by law, and we honor opt-out and deletion requests promptly. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Your choices
- Reply STOP to any text message to stop texts.
- Click “unsubscribe” in any email to stop emails.
- Email ExecutiveDirector@OaklandGOP.org to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you. Information that campaign-finance law requires us to keep cannot be deleted.
Children
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Our text-message program is intended for people 18 and older.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
